Meet the NDC at the Research Facilities Showcase at the P&J Live in Aberdeen on Tuesday, 28 October (1.30pm – 3.30pm).

Talk to our staff and researchers about the NDC’s R&D expertise and advanced facilities including the underwater laser cutting project and the marine simulator.

Find out more about the independent testing and verification the NDC offers to the oil and gas, defence, research and other sectors from its purpose-built technical services unit in Newburgh, Aberdeenshire.

These include:

High pressure hydrostatic testing
The large volume pressure vessel (1.8m x 0.75m internal) can simulate deep ocean conditions down to the equivalent of 7000m depth. The vessel also has 6 penetrator ports for hydraulics/electronic connection to the test items.

Vibration testing
Our vibration table is designed to simulate the shock and vibration conditions experienced by automotive, aerospace and subsea equipment when in use or transportation. It is operational to industry standards and supports up to 600kg load and delivers up to 50 G-force.

Environmental testing
The NDC’s two large capacity chambers allow temperature testing from -40°C to +180°C along with controlled humidity for precise environmental simulations.

Indoor immersion tank
Clients can hire our 5 x 5 x 5 metre indoor freshwater tank capable of accommodating offshore assemblies for testing including ROVs and other inspection equipment.
