Successful testing of subsea laser system at the National Decommissioning Centre

News

Claxton Engineering Services Ltd and the University of Aberdeen have completed successful testing of subsea laser system at the National Decommissioning Centre.

Our new subsea laser system has been going through a series of challenging tests and has achieved excellent performance in cutting structural steel up to 80mm thick at impressive speeds.  The all-electric control, feedback and manipulation system is proving reliable and we are excited to be moving to offshore test trials.

Thanks were given by David MacWilliam, VP Technical Solutions of Claxton Engineering Services Ltd to OGTC for supporting The National Decommissioning Centre and Claxton Engineering Services Ltd through this phase of the project.

Congratulations to the team on the success of this series of testing.
