A new paper presenting work from the Data for Net Zero (D4NZ) project on the creation of a novel 3D digital model of the UK Continental Shelf has been published.
Developed at the NDC the 3D model integrates diverse datasets into immersive visualisations that support informed decision making, stakeholder engagement and policy development.
For the first time users can access both 2D mapping and fully immersive 3D scenes of key demonstrator areas built in the NDC’s marine simulator.
The model adopts Smart City concepts and integrates a wide range of previously disconnected datasets such as on marine traffic, emissions and infrastructure.
This provides a more complete, interactive picture of the UKCS.
The work is part of the Scottish Government’s D4NZ project funded through its Energy Transition Fund.
