The NDC offers funded PhD opportunities for high calibre students across a range of disciplines, including, engineering, environmental sciences, marine biology, computing sciences, economics, and law. PhD students benefit from being part of a multidisciplinary research team supporting the energy sector to deliver sustainable net zero decommissioning and the energy transition.
The NDC is home to a cutting-edge marine simulator – a walk-in 9m diameter, 300-degree visual immersive environment with 4 control stations providing real-time and real-physics simulations. Other advanced facilities at the centre include a high-power laser, indoor water immersion tank, hyperbaric testing and several large capacity environmental chambers.
