The National Decommissioning Centre is exhibiting at stand 9 at OEUK’s Offshore Decommissioning Conference at the Fairmont Hotel, St Andrews (23 – 25 November 2026).

Researchers will be on hand to discuss the NDC’s work on projects to provide evidence needed for decommissioning decision making, emissions reduction, deployment and decommissioning of renewables and energy integration.

Learn about the NDC’s partnerships with industry such as the underwater laser cutting project. The NDC and Claxton Engineering have developed an underwater laser cutting solution which offers a revolutionary alternative to conventional methods. The technology brings to the market a low-carbon, quick and clean technology which has many benefits when compared with conventional cutting methods including reducing the time and cost to perform decommissioning activities. Hear about the technology which involves interfacing a 15kW industrial laser system to a custom designed subsea laser cutting head and deployment system incorporating electronic motion control and monitoring systems.

Find out about the NDC’s marine simulator which provides a safe virtual environment for scenario planning and design optimisation allowing companies to test new offshore technologies and improve decommissioning strategies in real-time across a variety of environmental conditions. Read more about some of the NDC’s work in Renewables in the Renewables Case Studies brochure below. Talk to the team about recent projects which are using the centre’s advanced marine modelling and simulation capabilities. The centre collaborates with technology developers, ports and the wider energy sector to support the de-risking of technologies and optimisation of operations prior to going offshore.

A short video introduction explaining the marine simulator’s capabilities can be viewed here.

Some recent projects with collaborators that will be highlighted at the exhibit include:

  • Trialling of Dublin Offshore Technology’s Load Reduction Device for FOW
  • Trialling of Blackfish Engineering’s C-DART quick mooring connector
  • ORE Catapult partnership FOW projects
  • Modelling of ports and infrastructure

Visit the NDC’s team to see a live demonstration of the marine simulator or have the opportunity to execute a simulated offshore operation yourself.

Join NDC Director Professor Richard Neilson for a panel session on Wednesday morning (more details to follow).
