The NDC was pleased to welcome a high-level delegation from Groningen, The Netherlands at as part of a wider visit to Scotland and Aberdeen organised by Aberdeen City Council.
The event brought together leaders from politics, academia, trade and industry including the Commissioner to the King, the Mayor of Groningen and senior representatives from Groningen Airport, the Seaport and major energy companies.
During their time at the NDC, delegates explored how research and technology development here is supporting the energy transition. The group then had the opportunity to experience the NDC’s marine simulator first hand and tour the engineering testing facilities available on site.
As two World Energy Cities Partnership (WECP) members Aberdeen and Groningen share similar challenges and opportunities across the energy transition.
As part of the visit NDC Director Professor Richard Neilson also joined an evening civic reception for the delegation at the Town House in Aberdeen.
