The National Decommissioning Centre and the University of Aberdeen are delighted to announce our partnership with the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. We look forward to working together on areas of mutual interest to both the nuclear and oil & gas sectors, including decarbonisation of decommissioning activities, economic impacts, cost benchmarking and remote operations in hazardous environments.

Framework strengthens understanding of offshore infrastructure’s role in marine ecosystems

A new paper led by The National Decommissioning Centre Research Fellow Dr Alethea Madgett brings together multiple scientific approaches to better understand the ecological role of offshore infrastructure. The framework could help inform future decommissioning decisions, habitat enhancement initiatives and efforts to support fisheries productivity and biodiversity restoration.

Workshop examines future of health and safety in offshore wind

PhD researcher in Energy and Environmental Law at the University of Aberdeen Mabel Omolola Demokun has shared a blog following a workshop held to examine the future of health and safety in offshore wind. The workshop was funded by the National Decommissioning Centre and held in partnership with the Aberdeen University Centre for Energy Law.

NDC’s Port Sim project awarded ACRD Digital Challenge Fund support

The National Decommissioning Centre's Port Sim Digital Toolbox for Port Operations project will benefit from a share of £3.1 million in funding from the Aberdeen City Region Deal Digital Challenge Fund. The project will model six strategically important ports to help understand local port infrastructure requirements for offshore renewable energy technologies and inform future planning and development.
